“Ready or not, here I come!”
Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.
Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life. Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom. All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.
Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.
Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.
Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.
THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.
The Root Chakra awakening: “Ready or not, here I come.”
Gemini 2° Santa Claus filling stockings furtively
This is a symbol of the illimitable source of everything ever needed for life and experience, emphasized on the practical side of everyday rewards and individual compensations. Implicit in the symbolism is the necessity for complementing nature’s largess and society’s favors with high personal appreciation, as in helping maintain the enduring ritual by which spiritual values may be kept alive in human hearts.
The keyword is PRODIGALITY.
When positive, the degree is an unusual capacity for bringing man’s possessions into a wide acceptance and for heightening every proper joy in worldly goods, and when negative, a childish or clandestine futility in seeking any normal richness of living.
FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.
The Sacral Chakra awakening: “When push comes to shove, digest.”
Cancer 23° Meeting of a literary society
This is a symbol of man’s resourcefulness in developing new areas of experience on the imaginative side, and of his genius for widening his interests and stimulating everybody to broader ideals and more rewarding goals in everyday living. The continual re-examination of a general intellectual and aesthetic inheritance becomes a heightening of personal identity, and the individual achieves a very genuine estimation of his fellows.
The keyword is CRITICISM.
When positive, the degree is accomplishment through an exacting appreciation of common effort and a rigorous revelation of private acts and attitudes, and when negative, a substitution of idle discussion for actual participation in reality.
FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.
The Solar Plexus Chakra awakening: “The element of surprise.”
Virgo 15° An ornamental handkerchief
This is a symbol of man’s self-quickening desire for allegiance to a reality higher or finer than himself, evident on the side of his aesthetic instincts. The knight in theory at least could never enter the lists of chivalry without his lady’s bit of lace as a talisman of the spirit, and every normal person feels rather lost without some continual reminder of his better impulses. Objects therefore are of value as they preserve meaning and help perfect action.
The keyword is GRACEFULNESS.
When positive, the degree is an effective refinement of personal manner and a high achievement through an exceptional charm, and when negative, insinuating self-pretense and a pompous interest in trifles.
SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.
The Heart Chakra awakening: “Succeeding against all odds.”
Scorpio 6° A gold rush
This is a symbol of the exploitation of natural resources through personal initiative or intelligence and of every individual’s essential independence of the commonplace limitations or superficial inadequacies of life. There are always high rewards awaiting any genuine enterprise, and as man dramatizes the opportunities of the world at large he is able to improve his own immediate condition in all possible directions. Human skills are forever challenged to their own good fortune.
The keyword is AMBITION.
When positive, the degree is instinctive self-dedication to the unseen potentials of everyday existence, and when negative, a lack of practical discrimination and an irresistible desire for easy money.
SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.
The Throat Chakra awakening: “How will you be remembered?”
Sagittarius 27° A sculptor
This is a symbol of creative ability as the manifestation of self-consciousness in its maturity of realization, dramatized by an irresistible desire to endow all life with some enduring potentiality. Here are the enlarged horizons which follow from an individual’s mastery of his own particular talents, and from the expanded vision which he must develop and share with his fellows if he is to possess it for himself. He is able to idealize nature because he has brought her to subjection.
The keyword is IMMORTALIZATION.
When positive, the degree is exceptional self-expression through a gift for building all experience into a personal fulfillment, and when negative, callous impersonality and overambitious pretensions.
EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men.
The Third Eye Chakra awakening: “Time to thank your lucky stars.”
Aquarius 19° A forest fire quenched
This is a symbol of regenerative relaxation after extraordinary effort, and of man’s exceptional capacity for achievement through the whole-giving of himself in an emergency. Here is the dynamic co-operation by which the individual gains a high peak of self-expenditure, and in the moment’s intensification rehearses potentialities he would never discover otherwise. What can be misfortune to be suffered can as easily become a successful adventure in broad social responsibility.
The keyword is CONCERN.
When positive, the degree is special skill in bringing personal interests to some larger point of effectiveness, and when negative, a fear of experience and a subtle delight in calamity.
NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless.
The Crown Chakra awakening: “Truth will not long be hidden.”
Aries 10° A man teaching new forms for old symbols
This is a symbol of the continuous and necessary rectification of understanding through direct and everyday experience, such as brings every factor of inner realization into immediate and personal significance. Here the wisdom of the race is revivified and made available for all through its recurrent and continual validation in human affairs. There is a serving of the many by the one who provides a momentary dramatization for each special phase of a total reality.
The keyword is INTERPRETATION.
When positive, the degree is an exceptional capacity for putting every part of an individual’s heritage to work, and when negative, witless distortion of values and twisted perspective in general events.
Meditate on the symbols I give thee. Keys are they, though hidden from men.
Reach ever upward, O Soul of the morning. Turn thy thoughts upward to Light and to Life. Find in the keys of the numbers I bring thee, light on the pathway from life unto life.
Seek thee with wisdom. Turn thy thoughts inward. Close not thy mind to the flower of Light.
Place in thine body a thought-formed picture. Think of the numbers that lead thee to Life.
Clear is the pathway to he who has wisdom. Open the door to the Kingdom of Light.
Pour forth thy flame as a Sun of the morning. Shut out the darkness and live in the day.
Take thee, O man! As part of thy being, the Seven who are but are not as they seem. Opened, O man! Have I my wisdom. Follow the path in the way I have led.
Masters of Wisdom, SUN of the MORNING LIGHT and LIFE to the children of men.
