“This is the way I shall go.”
Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.

Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life.
Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom.
All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.
Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.
Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.
Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.
THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.
The Root Chakra awakening: Libra 30° Three mounds of knowledge on a philosopher’s head
This is a symbol of the eternal fitness of things, as it lies within man’s power to comprehend this for his own special guidance. Implicit in the symbolism is a challenge to each individual to develop full and equal potentialities of skills, allegiances and ideals, and to recognize cosmic order through its manifestation in his own person and affairs. In this fashion he comes to know the world, and thereupon is able to anticipate the ways of its going.
The keyword is PRESCIENCE.
When positive, the degree is a perfected integrity of self and an exceptional gift for furthering all progress, and when negative, a fatuous pride in mere intellect.
FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.
The Sacral Chakra awakening: Sagittarius 21° A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses
This is a symbol of man’s unimpeachably universal spirit, and of his realization that there are no absolute lines of demarcation between higher and lower life or between the varying stages of competency to be found in each. Self-consciousness requires a supplementation of its capacities in the structures and materials of each particular plane of being, and individuality develops as it enters into reality through its own characteristic modes of insight.
The keyword is EXAMINATION.
When positive, the degree is an exceptional skill in the analysis of personal opportunity throughout the many dimensions of experience, and when negative, distorted vision and self-defeating prejudice.
FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.
The Solar Plexus Chakra awakening: Aquarius 13° A barometer
This is a symbol of man’s great love for living his experience in advance, and of his gift for meeting every possible contingency by an effective estimation of his own potentials. He uses the power of the human mind for broad generalization or abstract insight, and balances this with the tendency of nature to operate at all points through quite specific and measurable dependabilities. He knows that life can always be made to reveal any pertinent details of its fundamental ordering.
The keyword is INDICATION.
When positive, the degree is unusual keenness of observation and exceptional competence in judgment, and when negative, superficial uncertainty and a continual trimming to passing events.
SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.
The Heart Chakra awakening: Aries 4° Two lovers strolling through a secluded walk
This is a symbol of the first innocent rounding out of conscious experience, and of an unspoiled assurance of personal potentialities for which no immediate sense of responsibility is necessary. Implicit here is the fact that reality is ever without meaning or power except as it stimulates the self to move in its own interest persistently and continuously whenever the least opportunity offers.
The keyword is ENJOYMENT.
When positive, the degree is an utterly naïve assimilation of self into its world and a complete flow of all effort towards some proper end, and when negative, the indiscriminate loss of the self’s real assets in pure self-indulgence.
SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.
The Throat Chakra awakening: Taurus 25° A large well-kept public park
This is a symbol of the everyday integrity of society at large, and of the community divisions of labor through which each person gains the resources for well-being and self-enjoyment which obviously he could never create for himself through his own isolated efforts. There is here an emphasis on the common experience of mankind as the setting for an individual’s worth and achievement in their more characteristic lineaments, and for his consequent self-discovery and self-realization.
The keyword is RECREATION.
When positive, the degree is a high devotion to the practical welfare of all people collectively, and when negative, a complete surrender of personality to mass judgments and transient superficialities.
EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men.
The Third Eye Chakra awakening: Cancer 17° The germ grows into knowledge and life.
This is a symbol of the irresistible determination of living substance to press forward indefinitely and uncompromisingly in the expansion and refinement of its own special genius and identity, and thus to establish every possible phase of self-existence in more eternal lineaments. Implicit in the symbolism is the concept of the philosopher’s stone, or of that sure core of immutable distinctiveness which actually constitutes self as such.
The keyword is UNFOLDMENT.
When positive, the degree is a completeness of personal realization and self-consummation in every context of immediate concern, and when negative, an assumption of self-integrity neither appreciated or possessed.
NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless.
The Crown Chakra awakening: Virgo 8° First dancing instruction
This is a symbol of the self-perfecting required for the many different forms of man’s participation in the experience of his fellows, illustrated here in a potential excellence of special skill. The dance of life includes infinite versions of its rhythm and provides illimitable variations on the theme of its melody, but there must be some specific encouragement of individual ability as a stimulus to effective endeavor. Necessary always is that initial trial of self which in time leads to a continuity of effort.
The keyword is ASSISTANCE.
When positive, the degree is achievement through a personal competence and a high gift for co-operation, and when negative, cheerful acceptance of ineptitude.
Meditate on the symbols I give thee. Keys are they, though hidden from men.
Reach ever upward, O Soul of the morning. Turn thy thoughts upward to Light and to Life. Find in the keys of the numbers I bring thee, light on the pathway from life unto life.
Seek thee with wisdom. Turn thy thoughts inward. Close not thy mind to the flower of Light.
Place in thine body a thought-formed picture. Think of the numbers that lead thee to Life.
Clear is the pathway to he who has wisdom. Open the door to the Kingdom of Light.
Pour forth thy flame as a Sun of the morning. Shut out the darkness and live in the day.
Take thee, O man! As part of thy being, the Seven who are but are not as they seem. Opened, O man! Have I my wisdom. Follow the path in the way I have led.
Masters of Wisdom, SUN of the MORNING LIGHT and LIFE to the children of men.
