Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.
Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life. Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom. All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.
Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.
Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.
Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.
THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.

Gemini 22° A barn dance
This is a symbol of complete self-fulfillment through the established or normal activities of the community at large, and of a consummation of self by the broadest possible participation in the divisions of labor which constitute a human society. Richness of living comes from an uninhibited sharing of everyday potentialities, together with a maximum of happy give-and-take between any one individual and any other.
The keyword is GREGARIOUSNESS.
When positive, the degree is an ability to plunge into major and rewarding experiences without the least self-reservation, and when negative, a dependence on superficialities for self-satisfaction and on petty indulgences for self-assurance.
FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.
The Sacral Chakra awakening: “Make hindsight twenty-twenty.”
Leo 13° An old sea captain rocking
This is a symbol of man’s great love for reliving his experiences in memory, and of his gift for achieving a mastery in advance of whatever new situations he may face by bringing all the ramifying relationships to a focus in a personal and competent grasp of their more pertinent potentialities. He fights the battles of the world in his imagination, over and over again. He knows that events repeat themselves, and so may be brought in leash.
The keyword is RETROSPECT.
When positive, the degree is each person’s unlimited capacity for calling up afresh the powers he has gained in his struggle toward self-fulfillment, and when negative, insensibility to present reality in a full surrender to the past.
FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.
The Solar Plexus Chakra awakening: “Moving towards something greater.”
Libra 5° A man teaching the true inner knowledge
This is a symbol of the inviolability of all genuine inspiration, and of the opportunity offered every individual to reach out to his fellows through his participation with them in everyday experience, and thereupon to communicate his deeper insights to them through common responsibilities. His integrity of being lies in his continual self-orientation to both man and the world in terms of ultimate potentialities.
The keyword is AFFINITY.
When positive, the degree is a genius for understanding and calling out the underlying realizations by which human character comes to know itself at its best, and when negative, fatuous pride in the self’s acumen and subtle or underhanded attempts to dominate everyone.
SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.
The Heart Chakra awakening: “Doing whatever it takes.”

This is a symbol of man’s inexhaustible capacity for self-establishment and for finding everything he needs immediately at hand, as here given emphasis on the practical side. Reality is the result of each individual’s choices and rejections in his everyday dealings with the world at large, and the wide range of possible experience provides him with every facility he may need for the moment. His alertness to the potentialities of his being becomes the secret of his true self-fulfillment.
The keyword is EXTEMPORIZATION.
When positive, the degree is unusual resourcefulness and a gift for finding real opportunity in the least promising of situations, and when negative, unambitious acceptance of things as they are.
SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.

This is a symbol of the irresistible desire of all life to strip back to essentials, and to gain self-renewal by some immediate and close intimacy with the accepted roots of all-being. Implicit in the symbolism is the spiritual significance of the human body as a temple of the spirit, or as the archetype representing the total potentiality in a personal existence. Here is successful resort to self-sacrifice or psychological renunciation in order to achieve a new dimension of conscious reality.
The keyword is IMMERSION.
When positive, the degree is a highly effective dramatization of the basic characteristics and potentials of self, and when negative, furtiveness or eccentricity.
EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men.
The Third Eye Chakra awakening: “Competing against yourself.”
Pisces 9° A jockey
This is a symbol of the eagerness for life an individual must show in any true revelation of himself, and of the concern he must have for the struggles and competitions of everyday experience. It is only through thoroughly consistent performance of his skills and talents that man establishes himself among his fellows, and as this develops in excellence he is under increasing obligation to be successful in exhibiting them. Implicit in the symbolism are very harsh penalties for any failure to drive the capabilities of self to the limit.
The keyword is PRACTICE.
When positive, the degree is a spectacular gift for rising to any occasion, and when negative, witless gambling of every resource and potentiality.
NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless.
The Crown Chakra awakening: “Proceed in this direction.”

This is a symbol of the eternal fitness of things, provided the individual take the fullest advantage of the cosmic ordering. Implicit in the symbolism is man’s ability to establish his world of experience according to his own needs, and to function effectively because he has the acumen to align himself with his own genius and to seek a personal satisfaction in a simple efficacy of being himself.
The keyword is RELIABILITY.
When positive, the degree is an accustomed competency or ease in dealing with immediate circumstances, and when negative, a tendency toward provincialism or an acceptance of life with an altogether uncritical complacency.
Meditate on the symbols I give thee. Keys are they, though hidden from men.
Reach ever upward, O Soul of the morning. Turn thy thoughts upward to Light and to Life. Find in the keys of the numbers I bring thee, light on the pathway from life unto life.
