Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.
Thoth: All eyes do not see with the same vision, for to one an object appears of one form and colour and to a different eye of another. So also the infinite fire, changing from colour to colour, is never the same from day to day.
Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life. Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom. All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.
Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.
Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.
Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.
THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.

Pisces 30° The Great Stone Face
This is a symbol of human responsibility as an immortality of the soul, and of a way of living which has become a continual manifestation of its ideal and so a constant dramatization of its self-discovery to others as an encouragement to them in their own alignment to eternal reality. Each individual selects the image within himself to which he would shape himself outwardly, and this he comes to resemble as in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s tale. Destiny is character as it most persistently constitutes itself.
The keyword is DISCERNMENT.
When positive, the degree is self-integrity in its irresistible impact on the course of events, and when negative, wholly inarticulate and ineffectual self-realization.
FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.

This is a symbol of the rectification of experience on the side of ends and meanings, and of the fine discrimination of which man is capable. There is here a dramatization of the racial wisdom as this becomes incarnate in conscious individuality. Purpose and interest sharpen the attention, which in turn quickens the insight and permits an outreach into events which thereupon are ordered by the self’s potentials.
The keyword is CONFIRMATION.
When positive, the degree is a sensitiveness to the enduring significance of each special complex in human affairs, and when negative, a loss of integrity through blind obedience to others and a tendency to do things by rote.
FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.

This is a symbol of that belief in his inherent supremacy over all other orders of nature by which man is characterized most fundamentally, dramatized by his quite normal confidence in his ability to deal with every eventuality of day-by-day activity and relationship. Any individual must rule his environment or surrender his own potentialities forever. Here is practicality brought to the point of ruthlessness.
The keyword is DETERMINATION.
When positive, the degree is exceptional steadiness and a high sense of self-responsibility in every issue of the moment, and when negative, unnecessary aggressiveness and a self-defeating shortsightedness.
SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.
The Heart Chakra awakening: “Good to know you have a friend.”

This is a symbol of the actual illimitability of human relationships, dramatized here in the more personal and wholly specialized environment of everyday affairs. There are no facets of man’s character that cannot be built into the fabric of both a whole self and an integrated group, but each one of them must always have its own unconditioned manifestation. These are differences which as embraced in mutual appreciation become the basis of all conscious being or individual satisfaction.
The keyword is INTIMACY.
When positive, the degree is successful participation in every possible variety of experience, and when negative, lack of capacity for psychological adjustment.
SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.
The Throat Chakra awakening: “Who I am by who I’ve been.”

This is a symbol of man’s stark resourcefulness on the side of imagination or inner experience. Human intelligence becomes a fundamental sensitiveness to the final ends that may be served, and to the efficient means that may be shaped for the welfare of self and others. There is here a capacity to see the world and the individual in continual interdependence, and to understand the mutual contribution to each other of all the varying aspects of life.
The keyword is TACT.
When positive, the degree is spontaneous adaptability and an unswerving and instinctive fidelity to ultimate goals and meanings, and when negative, fascination with the trivial and delight in unbridled fancy.
EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men.
The Third Eye Chakra awakening: “Testify to your wonders.”
Sagittarius 17° An Easter sunrise service
This is a symbol of man’s achievement on the level of spiritual or eternal fellowship with others, here emphasized objectively by the enduring values he is able to dramatize for himself in everyday religious terms. The lives of all are seen in their common contribution to the total worth of a human estate, rather than as set off against each other in a senseless struggle for ephemeral rewards. Implicit in the symbolism is individual fulfillment through the quickening of humanity as a whole.
The keyword is REBIRTH.
When positive, the degree is an unusual realization of immortal resources and an ability to employ them wisely, and when negative, overconcern with superficial form and ceremony.
NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless.

This is a symbol of the ineradicable vanity of the human spirit as it gathers strength not only from the finery it wears but from a superficial display of woman’s form and man’s reputation, here emphasized through personal idealizations. A strong psychological dynamic for individual effort comes from the direct influence of outstanding and even notorious people, and implicit in the static symbolism of the waxworks is a necessity to recognize and identify the values worthy of emulation.
The keyword is IMPACT.
When positive, the degree is achievement through the effective dramatization of human character on some level of everyday understanding, and when negative, futile effort to recapture outworn experience.

I was born within the 30th degree (29-something).
The modelling myself – even physically, believe it or not – after a fictional character I loved as a child was quite literal in my case. I also had enormous “magic” power to transform reality (or my/people’s perception of it, which amounts to the same thing, I suppose); I first became fully aware of it at age nine – a day I’ll never forget. From that day on, I KNEW that I could make anything – anything at all, no matter how “impossible” – come true.
And then… I am not sure when – it must have been a long-drawn- out process, the accumulation of reckless choices and negligence (“hey, if the power is mine I can always use it – I don’t NEED to use it every time; where’s the fun in that?”) – I lost it. Or rather: I lost the DRIVE to make use of it – and without the drive you cannot do *anything*, let alone perform “magical” feats. It’s almost as if my “spine” had been broken.
It’s a very long and immensely complicated story, and I don’t really expect anyone to help me – but if you have any idea that might help me regain the drive to use the Power, I’d be immensely grateful.
