Pisces 25° The purging of the priesthood ~ REFORMATION

“I’ll give you three good reasons.”

Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.

Thoth: All eyes do not see with the same vision, for to one an object appears of one form and colour and to a different eye of another. So also the infinite fire, changing from colour to colour, is never the same from day to day.

Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life. Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom. All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.

Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.

Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.

Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.

THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.

Pisces 25° The purging of the priesthood

This is a symbol of the inevitable judgment which life must pronounce on itself, and of the sure penalties that await whatever may fail to prove its worth. Man demands an absolute integrity for his spiritual or immortal insights, and will have no falling short of his ideals in those who elect to be custodians of his higher and invisible treasures. He approaches the problems of his own regeneration through a dramatization of potentials he recognizes but cannot altogether instrument, and he will not tolerate their depreciation.

The keyword is REFORMATION.

When positive, the degree is revolt against all superficial exaltation of human nature, and when negative, blind bigotry and vindictiveness.

FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.

The Sacral Chakra awakening:  “It is what I say it is.”

Taurus 16° An old man attempting vainly to reveal the Mysteries

This is a symbol of the need to share whatever may be the ultimate substance of selfhood, as here brought to a personal realization on the intellectual side. Implicit in the negative symbolism is an awakening to a transient inadequacy, and a stirring to the effort which of itself is a promise of fulfillment once the proper conditions have been established. There is revolt against an inertia which threatens the very core of selfhood.

The keyword is PERTINACITY.

When positive, the degree is the uncompromising integrity of higher vision and an unshakeable determination to dramatize it, and when negative, a failure in accomplishment through a loss of touch with everyday practicality.

FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.

The Solar Plexus Chakra awakening: “The depths and the heights of it.”

Cancer 8° Rabbits dressed in clothes and on parade

This is a symbol of the upward reach of consciousness towards spirit, or of the necessity in all worth-while experience that events in some fashion make their continual and stimulating contribution to whatever values the self may be building into its own nature. The habiliments of higher implication are always available for a lower life to wear experimentally, thus sharing in what as yet it has not been able to assimilate to itself.

The keyword is APPROPRIATION.

When positive, the degree is unlimited assurance in any projection of self into a superior dimension of reality, and when negative, an ingenuous substitution of affirmation for accomplishment.

SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.

The Heart Chakra awakening:  “The water ~ still, dark and deep.”

Leo 29° A mermaid

This is a symbol of humanity’s insatiable appetite for experience on the side of psychological self-assurance, and of the nascent eagerness of the soul for a private and personal participation in every possible facet of self-fulfillment. There is an ineradicable purity of man’s make-up at core, and in consequence an ultimate repudiation of all the compromises which seem to be demanded in everyday relationships. The individual forever seeks and responds to the creative needs of life itself.

The keyword is IMPORTUNITY.

When positive, the degree is a completeness of quickening to inner instincts of the being and a real willingness to trust them, and when negative, a lack of discrimination and an awkward insensitivity.

SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.

The Throat Chakra awakening:  “The cause of love moves forward.”

Libra 20° A Jewish rabbi

This is a symbol of man’s self-assurance as gained by bringing a deeper understanding to his fellows. The social nature of the inner being is stressed here by an interest in eternal values such as is characteristic of years and masculinity, and by a feminine receptivity of soul which has its expression in the warmer contacts of a ministration to everyday human needs. Here is the potential of high dedication by which an individual or a group may become a special channel for the aspirations of all.

The keyword is HERITAGE.

When positive, the degree is the extraordinary insight which comes to those who are able to stand on the shoulders of the giants who have gone before, and when negative, an unhealthy sense of self-superiority.

EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men. 

The Third Eye Chakra awakening:  “Time to split the difference.”

Sagittarius 12° A flag turns into an eagle that crows

This is a symbol of the balance which every individual must maintain between the established allegiances which create the substance of his conscious selfhood and the idealized ambitions by which he is self-sustained as an identity in his own right. He must present his own version of himself in order to have any character at all, but his personality must conform to what comes to be expected of it in order to survive. Understanding is refined through the tireless struggles of the self with its situation.

The keyword is ADJUSTMENT.

When positive, the degree is successful self-establishment through genuine self-expression, and when negative, idle prejudices and unsubstantiated claims.

NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless. 

The Crown Chakra awakening:  “Clearance for the way ahead.”

Aquarius 3° A deserter from the navy

This is a symbol of human independence carried to a point of extreme rebellion against things as they are, here emphasized in a disregard of all consequences for the sake of an immediate liberation of the spirit. There is a demand for a more rewarding expression of individuality, and the reversed symbolism suggests that any late acceptance of full and personal responsibility for life is better than none at all. Except as man creates his own allegiances, his destiny holds no depth.

The keyword is DEFIANCE.

When positive, the degree is genuine psychological courage in a repudiation of all meaningless loyalties, and when negative, complete inability to follow the rules of any game.

Meditate on the symbols I give thee. Keys are they, though hidden from men.

Reach ever upward, O Soul of the morning. Turn thy thoughts upward to Light and to Life. Find in the keys of the numbers I bring thee, light on the pathway from life unto life.

Seek thee with wisdom. Turn thy thoughts inward. Close not thy mind to the flower of Light.

Place in thine body a thought-formed picture. Think of the numbers that lead thee to Life.

Clear is the pathway to he who has wisdom. Open the door to the Kingdom of Light.

Pour forth thy flame as a Sun of the morning. Shut out the darkness and live in the day.

Take thee, O man! As part of thy being, the Seven who are but are not as they seem. Opened, O man! Have I my wisdom. Follow the path in the way I have led.
