Pisces 22° A man bringing down the new law from Sinai ~ MANDATE

“Reliable instructions.”

Let us proceed to a study of this day’s septenary or 7-fold geometric model of the Sabian symbols, which constitutes a mandala of 360 astrological degrees as developed by Dr. Marc Edmund Jones in collaboration with and channeled by Elsie May Wheeler in the spring of 1925.* Additionally, by utilizing the ancient esoteric writing, The Emerald Tablet, Tablet III by Thoth, we adopt a ready and constant framework for our deeper reflections. The chakra system is also made available for the additional insights it may provide; the geometric designs provided are based on the work of Frank Chester and may be used to cut out and assemble a Chestahedron for meditation.

Thoth: All eyes do not see with the same vision, for to one an object appears of one form and colour and to a different eye of another. So also the infinite fire, changing from colour to colour, is never the same from day to day.

Man is a star bound to a body, until in the end, he is freed through his strife. Only by struggle and toiling thine utmost shall the star within thee bloom out in new life. Wisdom cometh to all her children even as they cometh unto wisdom. All through the ages, the light has been hidden. Awake, O man, and be wise.

Before the Lords of hidden Amenti learned I the wisdom I give unto men. Masters are they of the great Secret Wisdom, brought from the future of infinity’s end. Seven are they, the Lords of Amenti, overlords they of the Children of Morning, Suns of the Cycles, Masters of Wisdom. Formed are not they as the children of men? Three, Four, Five and Six, Seven, Eight, Nine are the titles of the Masters of men.

Far from the future, formless yet forming, came they as teachers for the children of men. Live they forever, yet not of the living, bound not to life and yet free from death. Rule they forever with infinite wisdom, bound yet not bound to the dark Halls of Death. Life they have in them, yet life that is not life, free from all are the Lords of the ALL.

Forth from them came forth the Logos, instruments they of the power o’er all. Vast is their countenance, yet hidden in smallness, formed by a forming, known yet unknown.

THREE holds the key of all hidden magic, creator he of the halls of the Dead; sending forth power, shrouding with darkness, binding the souls of the children of men; sending the darkness, binding the soul force; director of negative to the children of men.

This is a symbol of the eternal authority implicit in the very fact of man’s ideals, and of a spiritualization of experience through the religious insights of human society and the institutions it has created for the common welfare. The inspired prophets of each age have been custodians of an enduring morality, and this has its embodiment in the mountain-top aspiration of even the least of individuals. Right is dramatized as a personal responsibility for the course of events.

The keyword is MANDATE.

When positive, the degree is self-sacrifice and a determination to further the ultimate upliftment of all men, and when negative, self-exploitation and impenetrable egotism.

FOUR is he who looses the power. Lord, he, of Life to the children of men. Light is his body, flame is his countenance; freer of souls to the children of men.

The Sacral Chakra awakening:  “That which once mattered, doesn’t.”

Taurus 13° A man handling baggage

This is a symbol of the joy in effort put forth on the practical or everyday side of life, and of the adjustment by which the human individual is able to make his niche for himself in each available sphere of activity. Here is an extreme of dependence on the strength and resources of self, and an emphasis on the fact that there is no function in society which is not of equal importance with every other in fulfilling a person’s need to be useful.

The keyword is INDUSTRY.

When positive, the degree is an effective self-competence and virility of interest in normal living, and when negative, a dissipation of selfhood and a depreciation of all ambition through the performance of drudgery without protest.

FIVE is the master, the Lord of all magic – Key to The Word that resounds among men.

Cancer 5° An automobile wrecked by a train

This is a symbol of the irresistible power of completion inherent in the very make-up of man’s world whenever a sequence of events once is set in motion, as is evident continually on the objective side of things. Implicit in the reversed symbolism is the concept of control, or the assurance that it is not necessary to continue any given action to the point of self-cancellation. The ultimate obligation of the individual is to himself, and not to the narrow and momentary direction of circumstances.

The keyword is DISPERSION.

When positive, the degree is a special genius for a creative reorganization of all experience, and when negative, an insensitive recklessness.

SIX is the Lord of Light, the hidden pathway, path of the souls of the children of men.

The Heart Chakra awakening:  “There’s always more to see.”

Leo 26° A rainbow

This is a symbol of the over-all realization which comes to man for his guidance whenever he strives to reach his goals of a more enduring sort. Here is assurance of divine participation in the most unpromising of human relationships. The individual learns that there is a consistent ordering throughout the world in which he finds himself, and that nature will co-operate effectively with every vision he chooses to keep alive on his own account.

The keyword is SIGNIFICANCE.

When positive, the degree is a sense of very real spiritual power and presence in all personal effort and desire, and when negative, an uncritical acceptance of every passing hope or dream as something on which to depend.

SEVEN is he who is Lord of the vastness, master of Space and the key of the Times.

The Throat Chakra awakening:  “Blessed now to give freely.”

Libra 17° A retired sea captain

This is a symbol of what ultimately must be an entirely personal enjoyment of reality, or an indomitable sustainment of man’s world in the precise terms of his own special participation in its varying aspects. There is here a completeness of self-consummation through a gift for bringing all prior factors of realization to focus in the present moment. The self is secure because it has made its peace with every separate potentiality of its being.

The keyword is RELAXATION.

When positive, the degree is an utter fidelity to the lessons learned from experience and a consequent unshakeable poise in embarking on any new enterprise, and when negative, idle contemplation of past achievement.

EIGHT is he who orders the progress; weighs and balances the journey of men. 

The Third Eye Chakra awakening:  “Dreams and schemes along the way.”

Sagittarius 9° A mother with her children on stairs

This is a symbol of extreme alertness to the interests and needs of others, and of high competency in pursuing any and all ideal ends in view. There is a basic emphasis on the inescapable duty of man to remember that he is his brother’s keeper, and that he must develop and demonstrate a genuine social conscience. Here are the fine fruits of service to humanity, evident in the individual’s continual rounding-out of his community usefulness and the increasing recompense he gains through the approbation of his fellows.

The keyword is EDUCATION.

When positive, the degree is effective response to every personal challenge in everyday affairs, and when negative, immature act and reaction.

NINE is the father, vast he of countenance, forming and changing from out of the formless. 

The Crown Chakra awakening:  “Be sure to read the memo.”

Capricorn 30° A secret business conference

This is a symbol of the momentary background in human relations as essentially the product of current activities and attitudes, and of a determination to capitalize on any given situation through effective allegiances among the principal personalities involved. The emphasis here is on man’s desire for an inner circle of associates through whom he may exercise a real control over immediate eventualities, and on his realization that in this fashion he may monopolize the resources of his fellows.

The keyword is OPPORTUNITY.

When positive, the degree is a gift for clever planning and successful administration in every area of life, and when negative, rampant selfishness and rank exploitation of others.

Meditate on the symbols I give thee. Keys are they, though hidden from men.

Reach ever upward, O Soul of the morning. Turn thy thoughts upward to Light and to Life. Find in the keys of the numbers I bring thee, light on the pathway from life unto life.

Seek thee with wisdom. Turn thy thoughts inward. Close not thy mind to the flower of Light.

Place in thine body a thought-formed picture. Think of the numbers that lead thee to Life.

Clear is the pathway to he who has wisdom. Open the door to the Kingdom of Light.

Pour forth thy flame as a Sun of the morning. Shut out the darkness and live in the day.

Take thee, O man! As part of thy being, the Seven who are but are not as they seem. Opened, O man! Have I my wisdom. Follow the path in the way I have led.
